RUOMEI / BUYER’S GUIDE
Mixed Custom Sign Orders: What Counts as One Design?
The total quantity on a purchase order is not automatically the quantity of one design. At RUOMEI, different graphics, sizes or main structures are counted separately against the standard 30 units per design. Colour-only or print-only changes need review before quantities can be combined.
Own product reference, not a mixed-order example. Use separate version references for changes to the artwork, size or construction; one product photo does not define how an order is grouped.
1. Start with the product, not the purchase-order total
For quantity grouping, RUOMEI defines one design by its graphic, dimensions, main structure and principal manufacturing process. A shared brand name is not enough. The same logo made in two sizes, or on two different main structures, needs separate quantities.
Give each proposed version a reference before asking for the bulk price. The factory can then review which items genuinely share a production basis instead of working from a single total with the differences hidden.
2. Separate versions before adding the quantities
The examples below explain grouping only. They are not prices, accepted orders or permission to combine versions.
| Illustrative request | How to present it | RUOMEI review basis |
|---|---|---|
| Same logo: 20 small signs and 20 large signs | Two size versions, 20 units each. | Different sizes are separate designs; the combined 40 is not 40 of one design. |
| Same size: 15 units of Logo A and 15 of Logo B | Two graphic versions, 15 units each. | Different graphics are counted separately. |
| Same graphic and size: 15 red and 15 blue | List both colours and all other configuration details. | Colour-only variation needs review and written grouping confirmation. |
| Same design and size: printed wording changes | Supply each printed layout and its quantity. | Print-only variation needs review; it is not automatically one design. |
3. Colour and print changes are a review, not an exemption
When only colour or printed content changes, we check whether the versions can share the structure, materials and production arrangement. Send the complete layouts and colour references so that “only the colour changes” can be checked against the actual proposal.
Get written confirmation of whether grouping is possible and how many units belong to each version. Do not place a mixed order on the assumption that every colour change is automatically counted together.
4. Send a version list that purchasing and production can share
For each reference, list the artwork file, size, structure, main process, colour or print variation and quantity. Mark which differences are confirmed and which are still proposals. Include a total for purchasing, while keeping the version quantities visible.
If a version changes after quoting, update the list and ask whether the grouping and price still apply. Keep the final list with the approved drawings so an old combined total does not override the actual configurations.
5. Ask about small versions directly
If one version is below the standard 30 units per design, state its actual quantity. A trial order can be assessed separately; acceptance and bulk unit pricing are not guaranteed. Do not move units from another design into that line just to make the number meet the standard.
New customers may begin with one paid sample before deciding on a bulk order. That is a separate sample arrangement, not evidence that several low-quantity designs automatically qualify for the same bulk price.
6. Request a quotation with the split attached
Send the version list, artwork, sizes and quantities. For neon, vector artwork is preferred for accurate pricing; if only images are available, say so. Add the destination and intended use for configuration review.
Use our custom neon sign options as a starting point and send the split through the form below. If the order also includes light boxes, identify those lines separately rather than combining all custom products under one design quantity.
