RUOMEI / BUYER’S GUIDE
Custom Light Boxes for Coastal Sites: What to Send for Review
For a coastal light box project, send more than the word “outdoor.” Describe the location, salt and moisture exposure, direct sunlight and the proposed installation. RUOMEI can assess coastal, humid and strong-sunlight projects, but suitability needs review for the actual construction and requirements.
Own product photographed indoors. It is an appearance reference, not a coastal installation or corrosion-test result. Materials, finish and electrical arrangement need review for the proposed site.
1. Show the actual position and surroundings
Send a wide site photograph and a marked view of the intended sign position. Show whether it faces an open waterfront, sits behind a window or is sheltered by a building. Include the mounting surface and any nearby structure that affects access.
A town name or distance from the sea is useful context, but does not replace the site description. Tell us what exposure is known and mark anything still uncertain. Do not treat every location in the same coastal area as identical.
2. Describe salt, moisture and sun separately
| Condition | Information to send | Question for the review |
|---|---|---|
| Salt exposure | Open or sheltered position and any known direct spray. | How the proposed materials and finish suit the stated use. |
| Moisture | Rain, persistent humidity or other known water contact. | The complete sign and electrical arrangement. |
| Sunlight | Direct exposure and the faces affected. | Any particular appearance-retention requirement. |
| Temperature | Known operating conditions or project limits. | Whether the proposed configuration suits those conditions. |
These are project inputs, not a universal severity scale or a list of conditions one standard light box automatically covers.
3. Review the whole configuration for those conditions
Ask the proposal to identify the body materials, visible finish, mounting arrangement, supply location and cable connections. An exposed fitting or connection belongs in the review even when the main graphic face is sheltered.
RUOMEI selects the construction against the project. We do not prescribe one metal grade, coating or electrical component for every coastal order. A material name or an outdoor label alone should not replace an agreed specification for the complete product.
4. State any specific corrosion or colour-retention requirement
If the buyer requires a particular test, document or acceptance condition, send the exact requirement before the configuration is final. Ask what evidence is available and whether it applies to the proposed materials and finished product.
Existing documents need a scope check; they do not automatically cover a changed configuration. Where new testing is needed, the institution, cost and timing are confirmed separately. Do not infer permanent colour retention or freedom from corrosion from a reference photograph.
5. Include access and care questions before approval
Show how the installed sign and power parts can be reached. If the site owner has a cleaning procedure or access restriction, share it for review. Ask for care instructions that suit the agreed materials and configuration.
Do not copy a generic coastal cleaning schedule onto every sign. RUOMEI has not published one universal cleaning method or maintenance interval for all custom light boxes. Resolve those requirements for the proposed product before treating them as part of the operating plan.
6. Send one site brief with the artwork
Start with the logo or reference image, size and quantity. Add site photos, known salt and moisture exposure, sunlight, operating conditions, mounting and power positions. List any required tests or appearance criteria separately.
Review our custom LED light box options and use the form below. We can review the project from those facts, without treating “coastal-ready” as an all-climate or lifetime promise.
