RUOMEI / BUYER’S GUIDE
Custom LED Neon Power Consumption: What Does the Wattage Include?
For a custom LED neon order, ask which configuration a power figure describes and where it was measured. The adapter’s output rating, the sign’s measured load and electricity drawn by the complete setup are different figures. RUOMEI determines product power from the actual size and construction; one catalogue wattage does not describe every logo.
Own product reference only. The photograph does not establish wattage, supply rating or energy use. Ask for data linked to the proposed product and operating setting.
1. Ask which power figure you have been given
| Figure | What to check | What it does not establish by itself |
|---|---|---|
| Adapter output rating | The capacity stated for the specified supply. | The sign’s actual operating consumption. |
| Measured sign power | Product reference, measurement point and operating setting. | Complete input consumption if the supply and controls are outside the measurement. |
| Complete input power | Which supply, controls and sign were included. | Daily energy use without a stated operating schedule. |
A power supply can have capacity above the connected load. Do not turn its output rating into a measured consumption claim for the sign. Ask for the boundary of the quoted figure before using it in a comparison.
2. Link the number to the actual design
RUOMEI determines power according to the product’s size and construction. Keep the artwork, dimensions, lighting functions, supply and controls with the power reference. A figure for a small fixed-colour sign is not evidence for a larger or differently configured order.
If a quoted figure is an estimate, identify it as an estimate. For sample data, ask which approved configuration was measured and which items were included. Keep any differences between the sample and the proposed order visible.
3. State the lighting setting used for the measurement
If dimming, colour changes or a sequence is part of the approved configuration, identify the setting used for the power figure. A single reading should not quietly become a claim for every available mode.
Tell us which setting the customer expects to use. Ask how the available data relates to that use, and whether further review is needed. Do not assume a particular percentage saving from dimming or animation without data for the actual setup.
4. Use watts and operating hours for an energy estimate
The U.S. Energy Information Administration distinguishes power in watts from energy used over time. For a constant input, daily kWh equals input watts × hours used ÷ 1,000.
This is arithmetic only, not a RUOMEI product rating or approval for that operating schedule. Changing power levels need an appropriate average or energy measurement. Use the actual electricity tariff for any cost estimate.
5. Compare complete proposals on the same basis
Keep artwork, size, configuration and the intended lighting result the same when comparing operating data. Record whether each figure is estimated or measured and whether it covers the whole setup. A lower wattage is not a fair comparison if it describes a different product or setting.
RUOMEI’s confirmed inspection rules include actual-power checks in the detailed sampling process. They do not mean every unit receives every detailed measurement. Ask for the evidence relevant to the version being purchased.
6. Include the operating requirement in the enquiry
Send vector artwork where available, size and quantity. Add the destination, intended lighting functions and daily schedule. If your project has an input-power limit or energy-reporting requirement, state it before the configuration is approved.
