RUOMEI / BUYER’S GUIDE
Custom Sign Shipping Quotes: Compare the Same Delivery Scope
Before comparing two custom sign quotations, check where each quoted scope ends. A product price, a price at a named shipment point and a transport quotation to your address are different cost boundaries. Put the agreed scope in writing so purchasing can see which charges are included and which remain separate.
Product reference only. Shipping must be reviewed against the actual order and packing information; this photograph does not establish packed size, weight or a freight rate.
1. Identify the named location and the quoted basis
Do not leave “shipping included” without a destination or “FOB” without a named port. Ask the quotation to state the agreed trade term, named place or port and applicable edition where an Incoterms rule is used. Confirm who is arranging the main transport.
RUOMEI lists included and separately charged items according to the actual EXW or FOB quotation scope. That is not a reason to choose either term for every shipment. The basis needs to suit the actual transport arrangement.
2. Check that the term fits the transport mode
FOB is a rule for sea and inland waterway transport, not a general label for every air, courier or container shipment. If the proposed handover is at a factory or transport terminal, have the logistics provider check the appropriate rule instead of copying “FOB” from an older quotation.
The ICC Incoterms 2020 checklist explains why transport arrangement and handover point matter. Confirm the applicable basis with the parties handling your shipment before the order is approved.
3. Make the charge boundaries visible
| Item to clarify | Question for the quotation |
|---|---|
| Product and packing | Which approved products and packing arrangement does the price cover? |
| Collection or origin movement | Who arranges it, and is its charge already included? |
| Origin handling and formalities | Which applicable items are included and which are separate? |
| Main transport | Is it quoted separately, and to which named destination? |
| Destination costs | Who handles applicable clearance, taxes, handling and onward delivery? |
This is a clarification list, not a universal allocation of costs. Read each line against the agreed trade term and shipment. A charge already included in the accepted scope should not be excluded again elsewhere in the quotation.
4. Keep the order and packing basis the same
Compare quotations for the same designs, quantities, destination and packing requirements. Ask which packing information the transport estimate uses. If carton dimensions or weight are not final, keep that limitation visible rather than treating an early estimate as a confirmed rate for the finished shipment.
If the product size, quantity or packing arrangement changes, request an updated transport basis. A lower figure is not a useful saving if it covers fewer products or ends at an earlier point in the journey.
5. Keep the dates separate from the cost scope
A quotation describing the agreed transport costs does not, by itself, confirm the arrival date. Keep the expected production-completion date separate from collection, transport and destination handling. Ask for assumptions to be identified where the route is not yet booked.
When using your own forwarder, give them the same order and shipment references used with the factory. Resolve any gap between the factory handover and the forwarder’s quoted starting point before approving the arrangement.
6. Request the product and delivery scope together
Send artwork or a reference image, size and quantity for the product quote. Add the destination and whether you plan to appoint a forwarder. If you need transport quoted, state the requested endpoint rather than only the country name.
For a custom LED light box order, use the form below and ask for a clear list of included and separate items. That gives your purchasing team a quotation it can compare without guessing what “shipping” covers.
