RUOMEI / BUYER’S GUIDE
Outdoor LED Light Boxes: Rain Protection Is Not an Underwater Specification
RUOMEI outdoor light boxes can be configured for rain and everyday splashes. They are not intended for full, prolonged immersion in water. For an exterior display, describe how water may reach the sign, its power supply and connections before the construction is approved.
Own product reference photographed indoors. The outline and side bracket are visible; the photograph is not a rain test or evidence of an IP rating. Outdoor suitability is confirmed for the actual order.
1. Describe the water exposure, not just “outdoor”
A sign under a canopy and a sign on an open facade do not have the same surroundings. Send a site photo showing the proposed position and any cover. Mark where rain or everyday splashes may reach the display.
If the proposal involves standing water, flooding or immersion, state that explicitly. Do not treat those conditions as ordinary rain exposure or assume an outdoor light box is suitable. Our rain-and-splash scope is not approval for an underwater installation.
2. Include the supply and connections in the review
A description of the light box body leaves the rest of the installation unanswered. Show where the power supply will sit and where the cables and connections will run. Identify any parts positioned away from the sign or inside a separate fixture.
Ask the proposal to address the complete arrangement. A statement about one component does not establish protection for every connection or the assembled product. The actual power setup and cable exit are confirmed with the project.
3. Separate the conditions in your enquiry
| Site condition | Information to provide | What to clarify |
|---|---|---|
| Rain or everyday splashes | Position, cover and likely contact areas. | The proposed outdoor configuration. |
| Standing water or immersion | Whether water may collect around or cover any part. | Do not assume suitability from a rain-protection description. |
| Coastal or humid setting | Site photos and expected salt or moisture exposure. | Materials and any specific performance requirement. |
| Strong sunlight | Location and expected exposure. | Requirements that need project assessment. |
This checklist helps explain the site. It is not a list of environments automatically covered by one standard product.
4. Ask what any protection claim actually covers
RUOMEI does not assign one fixed IP rating to all custom light boxes. If your project requires a particular rating or test, send the requirement and destination market before the specification is final. Its applicability needs confirmation for the proposed finished product.
Keep the agreed claim with the configuration it describes. A product name, a photograph with water droplets or a component label should not become a broader promise that the entire sign can be immersed.
5. Approve the product for the stated location
Review the appearance, mounting and electrical arrangement alongside the exposure notes. Keep the site reference with the approved drawing. If the location later changes from a sheltered entrance to an exposed wall, ask for another review before treating the original configuration as suitable.
Coastal, humid and strong-sunlight projects can be assessed. That does not mean every construction is suitable for every climate, or that the finish will never rust or change colour. Agree any specific requirement for the actual product.
6. Send a site brief with the logo
Start with the artwork or reference photo, size and quantity. Add the destination, installation position, site photos and expected water contact. Show the proposed supply and cable positions, and identify anything still undecided.
Review our outdoor LED light box options, then use the form below. We can discuss the construction against those conditions rather than quote a general “waterproof” label without a defined scope.
